desssssk for outerlands designs
this is the “loo with the view” composting platform toilet designed and built by Kelly Best and I last spring for the Ukiah residency and gathering. best place to take a crap, ever.
from this picture you can’t see the epic view off to the soft right of the seated position, nor the fallen tree it’s sight line follows.
This is my solution to conceal the rainwater/gray water irrigation instruments while allowing them to remain largely accessible.
why do i get the clients who prefer the perfectly milled maple (in front) to the wild beauty of its naturally aged state(big stack)? People wanting raw wood built things, HIT ME UP!
(at least its reclaimed either way)
this is the result of a lot of minimal redesigns and waiting, but in the end I couldn’t be happier. partnering with Hyphae Design Lab, I was responsible for fabricating these catchers and displayers of rainwater from the inverted ‘butterfly’ roof on this beautiful, ecologically conscious contemporary home. Once the fountain is running and the Corten steel has time to do its beautification thang, I’ll post some real shots.
